Former Silver Strikers forward Chawanangwa Kaonga continues to make headlines in Mozambique as he is setting alight the Mocambola League in his debut season.

Kaonga hammered a brace to inspire Chibuto to a 3-1 victory over Beira in a league match played on Wednesday.

So far, Kaonga has scored seven goals for Chibuto in 11 matches in the league.

He is third on Mocambola League scorers chart, two behind the leading goalscorer.

In an interview on Thursday, Kaonga said he was delighted with his goal-scoring form in Mozambique claiming he was aiming for the Golden Boot Award in his debut season.

“I have settled well and I am working hard to advance my football career,” he said.

Kaonga also disclosed that he fancies a move to South African league in the near future.

“I am dreaming of playing football in South Africa soon. With God anything is possible,” he said.

Chibuto are on position seven with 27 points from 11 games.

Kaonga joined Chibuto FC on a three-year deal at a fee of around K7.2 million.

Before joining Chibuto, Chawanangwa was linked with a move to Big Bullets but the deal did not go through after Silver refused, saying the player could not be sold to a local club.
