Chibuku Products Limited (CPL) has donated food and non-food items worth K100 million to Cyclone Freddy survivors.
Speaking when receiving the items, former president Joyce Banda urged private sector players to continue assisting and adopting villages affected by the cyclone to fast track the recovery process.
She said her first assignment as ‘Good-will Ambassador’ is to call upon the private sector to focus on helping the reconstruction and resilience process in the aftermath of the disaster.
Banda said the disaster has severely impacted many lives and that it is essential to have collaborative efforts to aid in the recovery process.
“The private sector has a significant role to play in supporting the recovery efforts, and adopting a village is an excellent way of ensuring that affected households receive the necessary support to rebuild their lives, “Banda said.
CPL Managing Director Gerald Bowler said, as a responsible corporate citizen, the company decided to support the communities in need, helping to make a significant difference in their lives.
