CHIBUKU Products Limited (CPL),one of Malawi’s leading brewers, on Monday launched a road safety campaign aimed at ensuring an accident free festive season.

CPL managing director Panache Maisva said the campaign will see the company intensifying vehicle checks, safety awareness as well as discouraging night driving.

He said CPL will also rally against driving while answering mobile phones in addition to drink driving.

Currently, the company, through its distributors runs a total of 60 trucks, which crisscross the country distributing beer every day.

“As a company, we want to play our part in reducing road carnages during this year’s festive season. As you are aware road accidents are on the increase during the festivities,” he said.

Maisva noted that the campaign, which started last year, is bearing fruits as the company has seen its contribution to road fatalities reducing from three last year to zero this year.

“Although we are a beer company, we promote responsible drinking. We value our customers very much. We want to see them again because without them, there will be no Chibuku.

“We know that most people who drink our beer belong to a family. We don’t want any of their families to lose a member due to road accidents during this year’s festive season,” said Maisva.

During the even, CPL also donated road safety equipment to St Pius Boys Primary School.
