Zimbabwe Premier League side, Chicken Inn arrived in the country yesterday for the Energem Bonanza which kicks off at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre tomorrow.
Chicken Inn are making a return to the tournament after competing in the inaugural edition last year.
They will start the competition with a tie against Be Forward Wanderers tomorrow before taking on Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday.
The Zimbabweans will wrap up the event with a showdown against Mozambique’s UD Songo on Sunday.
Chicken Inn General Secretary, Tavengwa Hara, said despite missing the services of key players, Xoloni Ndlovu and Chlin Augusto, who have signed for South African sides, they return to Malawi a better side.
“We are a much better team than we were last year. We are prepared for the tournament and soccer loving Malawians should expect fireworks as we have beefed up the squad with seven players,” Hara said.
He said they have Pattynya Nyamakura and Leroy Ndhlovu who were top scorers in Zimbabwe’s National Northern league and Southern Division League, respectively.
National team right-back Ian Nekati and Brian Musa are the other players to watch.
Chicken Inn finished third in the Zimbabwe’s top league last season.
Meanwhile, Songo are expected to arrive today ahead of their opener against Bullets.
Bullets and Wanderers are using the competition to finetune for the 2020 TNM Super League kickoff on March 21.
