Chiefs say undecided on Miracle Gabeya, others
South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) gurus, Kaizer Chiefs have given a muted update on the trials of Nyasa Big Bullets’ defender, Miracle Gabeya and others.
Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, told www. kaizerchiefsfc.com yesterday that their Coach Steve Komphela was still assessing Gabeya and Italian forward Gustavo Paez.
“We have released the Ivorian player Ismael Olivier Traore back to his team. We will assess the remaining players in the next week before we come to a conclusion,” Motaung told his club’s website.
The release of the other trialists sparked South Africa media speculation that Gabeya and Paez had impressed during the trials.
South Africa media added that the prospect of Gabeya signing for Chiefs hinged on their defender Lorenzo Gordino’s trials at Danish club, Aalborg BK.
Gordino has since rejoined Chiefs, who are waiting for word from the Danish side.
Still in South Africa, Bullets’ captain Chiukepo Msowoya is also undergoing trials with Golden Arrows, but the Durban club’s Coach Clinton Larsen is yet to decide on the former Orlando Pirates striker.
“Msowoya has scored lots of goals back in Malawi and has had a couple of really good seasons where he was top-scorer‚ so we are having a look at him,” Larsen told the press in South Africa on Tuesday.
Arrows Chairperson Mato Madlala has since confirmed that they have signed Zimbabwean striker Knox Mutizwa from Bidvest Wits.
Madlala added that they were eyeing more strikers, adding “We have also got few players that we are looking at and one is Msowoya.”
