Chimwemwe Idana keeps Nyasa Big Bullets guessing

UNDECIDED—Idana

LINKED WITH A MOVE TO SA—Babatunde

The future of Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Chimwemwe Idana at the People’s Team is hanging in the balance as the playmaker is yet to agree to terms to extend his contract, which expires next month.

Idana confirmed that he was in discussions with Bullets despite being linked with moves away from the club.

“It is true that my contract will expire next month. I am only talking to Bullets and not any other team,” he said.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said the club was working hard to keep the prized assets.

“Most players at Bullets have running contracts as the majority of them extended their stay last year. The club is also discussing with players whose contracts will expire soon.

“Contract issues are confidential as both parties need to scrutinise things and negotiate; so, I cannot comment on a specific player. We will issue a statement outlining players we are signing or releasing to enlighten our supporters,” he said.

Idana was promoted from Bullets Reserve and was voted as the 2021 TNM Super League player of the season.

The development comes as Bullets striker Babatunde Adepoju is expected to join a club in South Africa.

“Babatunde is on holiday in Nigeria but there is a huge likelihood that he will join a club in South Africa. Currently, we [Bullets] are discussing with the club. Babatunde will also travel to South Africa to discuss with the club,” Chigoga said.

Bullets signed Babatunde from rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, where he moved to from Masters Security.
