Chimwemwe Idana wins Mika Greenland award

Midfielder Chimwemwe Idana has won Silver Strikers’ Mika Greenland Player of the Month award for April.
Idana will get a plot and K100,000 cash for beating fellow midfielder Chikondi Kamanga, and defenders Emmanuel Kaunga and Maxwell Paipi to the accolade.
Idana dedicated the award to the technical panel and his teammates.
’’This is a good motivation to me as a player. But I could not have won if there was no unity in the team. We are pulling in one direction and our desire is to win the league title this season,’’ Idana said.
The Malawi National Football Team midfielder joined the Central Bankers on a six-month loan from Tanzanian side Mbeya FC and is expected to return in July.
Idana has made an excellent start to his career at Silver having scored four goals in four matches.
Mika Greenland Sales and Marketing Executive Mahara Kibombwe said they expect the awards to help motivate the players.
’’We want to be part of Silver’s success this season as they aim at winning the TNM Super League,’’ Kibombwe said.
Silver acting Chief Executive Officer Faith Mzungu-Vilakati said the awards will help the players prepare for life after football.
’’We have hardworking players who are fighting for the team on the pitch. So rewarding them in this manner is very beneficial to our performance. Our wish is to help the players secure their future,’’ Mzungu- Vilakati said.
Last year, Silver and Mika entered into the partnership which they extended last month.
