Chipiku Central Region Football League will kick off on Sunday.
Central Region Football Association (CRFA) Vice General Secretary, Antonio Manda, said the league was supposed to start last weekend.
“The sponsor wanted to rectify some problems and that is why we failed to start last Saturday. The official launch will take place in Salima District. We have agreed to run the league more professionally this season. We, therefore, agreed to reduce the number of teams in division one, division two and premier division,” he said.
Manda said each league will accommodate 20 teams, down from 22 last season.
Chipiku Stores sponsors the league to the tune of K10 million.
Masters Security FC emerged Premier Division champions for the 2016 season with 96 points, 11 points ahead of the runners-up Holy Cross Ambassadors.
