Chipiku Stores increases CRFA sponsorship

Chipiku Stores have pledged to continue bankrolling Central Region Football Association (CRFA) leagues by increasing next season’s sponsorship from K7.5 million to K 9 million.

Announcing the news on Saturday during an award ceremony held at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe, Chipiku Stores chief operations manager, Shaik Ahmed, said the marriage between them and CRFA has been a success for 10 years.

“We are happy to be associated with the development of football in Malawi. Our aim is to see more players exposed through the league,” he said.

He further explained that the company was happy with the level of competition in the league last season.

Minister of Sports and Culture, Grace Chiumia, hailed Chipiku Stores for complementing government’s effort in the development of the sport.

“Chipiku Stores are true partners and we don’t take their support for granted. As government, we will try our best to woo more companies to sponsor football in the country,” Chiumia said.

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) vice-president, James Mwenda, commended CRFA for administering the league professionally.

During the awards, Dwangwa United were officially crowned champions of Premier Division, where as Kamuzu Bar racks and Engineers Battalion were also awarded for being champions in Division One and Two respectively.

In the media awards, Patrick Simango of MBC was named the best reporter followed by Dickson Chiwvati Gondwe (Galaxy FM) and Mike Bango (Zodiak Broadcasting Station) respectively, whereas Singayazi Kaminjolo of Nation Publications and Mabvuto Kambuwe of Times Group came first and second respectively.

CRFA i s the only league in country with three divisions.
