Chitipa United coach prays for luck
Chitipa United Head Coach, Kondwani Mwalweni, has said the TNM Super League rookies lack “some good luck” to get the desired results.
Chitipa were left searching for their souls after they suffered another TNM Super League defeat, going down 0-1 to Red Lions at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.
Lottie Chawinga’s 28th-minute strike handed Mwalweni’s team a third successive defeat of the season.
The home side blew a golden opportunity to rescue a point in the 68th minute as striker Abel Mwakilama’s spot-kick hit the post despite sending Lions goalkeeper Jacob Kaunda the wrong way.
“Luck was not on our side,” Mwalweni said.
“[We] created a lot of chances, especially in the second-half, but sadly, we failed to utilise them. However, things will get better.”
The Chitipa mentor still praised the performance of Mwakilama who played in the top-flight league for the first time after a failed transfer to Moyale Barracks FC.
Lions Coach, Mike Kumanga, said, after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Mzuni FC, his side desperately needed the victory.
“After that draw, I told my players to go for the kill in the next game. Now I am returning home with four points and I am a happy man,” Kumanga said.
