Chombe hopes for export growth after certification
By Taonga Sabola:
One of the country’s food giants, Chombe Foods, has said it expects to up its exports following a certification by the Malawi Bureau of Standards.
Chombe Foods General Manager, Forbes Muzamhindo, told reporters in Blantyre on Friday that the certification would help the firm’s rice and black tea to be easily accepted on the international market.
Muzamhindo said, before the certification, it was hard for the products to be accepted on the international market.
“We are very excited to get this certification because it will enhance our exports. The certification eliminates all the doubt that buyers on the international market had about the quality of our products,” he said.
The firm also unveiled packaging for its tea to ensure that it meets international standard.
“As we seek to boost our exports, we need to package the product in a way that is more appealing to customers.
“We are confident that the new packaging, coupled with the certification, will help propel the Chombe brand across the world,” Muzamhindo said.
