A lot has been said about gospel group Christ Melodies that it disbanded following the move of one of its key members Khama Khwiliro, who went solo.
But the remnants of the group have insisted that the group has never disbanded and that it is intact.
With Christ Melodies yet to come out and show it still exists, one of the group’s members Nasho Nyirenda has also released a solo album titled Zatheka.
Nasho said on Tuesday that his releasing his solo debut album does not mean that he has moved out of Christ Melodies.
“Christ Melodies is still there and intact. It’s just that at the moment some members are outside the country for other works but once they are back we will go full throttle with performances but also release an album. So as we wait for this I thought I should drop my own album,” said the singer.
Nasho said he started working on the 10-track album last year and that this is an indication that members of Christ Melodies are active.
“This also just confirms that Christ Melodies is still there but then I could not have done this album under the group thus doing it solo although I have featured one of the members from the group and former member,” he said.
He revealed that he initially wanted to release a 13-track album but he removed three songs which he felt needed polishing.
Nasho said through the album he is proclaiming the power of God that with him everything is possible.
“I have composed all the songs on my own. Actually I am happy that some of my songs are currently enjoying airplay in some of the local radio stations,” said the singer.
He revealed that he has recorded the songs in four studios and that he has used renowned producers Elvis Ching’oma, Joseph Tembo, Gresham Mokwena and Amos Mlolowa.
Some of the songs people are expected to sample in the album include ‘Chiuta Muwemi,’ ‘Usalire,’ ‘Silent Night,’ ‘Ndikale Lija,’ ‘Pemphero,’ and ‘Wachikondi Wanga,’ which he dedicated to his wife.
Listening to some of the songs, Nasho has not moved away from the style used by Christ Melodies although he insisted he is doing his own style.
“I am ready for the industry and I am doing my own style. At the moment I am not talking about the launch because I want people to listen to the songs first of all. But I am targeting a double launch as I am also working on a DVD,” he said.
In some of the songs, Nasho has gone traditional fusing some traditional dances just to show the country’s identity.
The artist, who is not full time in music as he is also currently working as well as pursuing marketing, said he is also looking into holding live performances.
In one of the songs ‘Masiku Onse,’ Nasho has featured artists Limbani Simenti, Chisomo Windo, Jimmy Phiri, Spring’s Mwiza Zungeni, Ruth Mputeni and Khwiliro
