Christians in Way of the Cross

By Feston Malekezo:

Thousands of Christians thronged streets of Mzuzu as they commemorated the suffering of Jesus Christ.

A cross section of Christians from Catholic, Anglican and Evangelical Lutheran churches started the Way of the Cross procession from Chiputula to Katoto grounds.

Despite pockets of rains throughout the procession, the Christians sang solemn hymns to their destinations.

Bishop Fanuel Magangani of Anglican Church said Christians are being implored to be peaceful as we approach the watershed elections.

The bishop also said Christians have to be in forefront in protecting the lives of people with albinism emulating the life of Christ.

“This is the most important day in Christian life. There is a great message from Jesus Christ by dying on the cross for our sins. This is a day we attained our salvation. We know that it was because of the injustices that were happening during those days which led to the death of Christ. Today, we still experience the injustices that is why we have to particularly remember in prayers our friends with albinism in the country,” he said.

One of the Christians Alexander Mwakikunga from Mzuzu City said Christians have to emulate the life of Christ in their day-to-day dealings.
