Hope of Glory Church has said all is set for the gospel show at Comesa Hall in Blantyre Friday night which is aimed at raising funds to go towards payment of medical bills for Apostle Enesia Chitheka Lewis, who is in South Africa for treatment.
The church has also assured Malawians that the money realised during the gospel concert will go towards the payment of the medical bills.
Some quarters have felt cheated with fundraising concerts which have seen organisers failing to account for the money and instead putting it in their pockets.
But Hope of Glory Church Administrator Pai Mhango said people should not have doubts as all the money which will be raised will go towards the payment of the bills.
“The money raised will go to the church’s account which is well managed. So even for those who are depositing the money in the account, they should know that their money is safe and will go straight to paying the hospital bills,” said Mhango.
The church’s former administrator Lloyd Banda said they entered into an agreement with the hospital in South Africa and that Apostle Chitheka, who is currently in stable condition will only be released by the hospital after payment of the bills.
“So if you see the Apostle here you will know that we have paid the bill but if she is not here that you should question us otherwise we are looking for people’s support on the day. We will have boxes where people will have a chance of donating money and other items,” said Banda.
Mhango said several gospel musicians from the three regions will perform during the concert.
“We have gospel artists coming all the way from Mzuzu to support this cause, we have gospel artists from Lilongwe and then Blantyre and so it is a full house. People will enjoy gospel vibes from all the gospel artists they know,” he said.
Some of the artists billed to perform on the night include Faith Mussa, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Grace Chinga, Thoko Suya and Thocco Katimba.
Apostle Enesia Chitheka Lewis, the torchbearer of a renowned gospel group, Chitheka Family, underwent an operation for kidney failure in South Africa.
She, however, was instructed by the doctors that she should remain in hospital to be monitored.
Several gospel musicians have welcomed the concert for the veteran gospel singer, composer, songwriter and preacher through their forum and many say they are ready to minister the word of God to the people.
The church has since said people are free to deposit their money in the church’s account which is MSB BT Branch account number 2205167572001.
“Our contact numbers are 0888951177 or 0888417911. We hope people will come in large numbers during the concert to help our Apostle,” said Banda.
Apostle Chitheka came out of hibernation early this year to launch the latest album titled Yehova Nyansadabuza. This was after Chitheka Family had stayed for years without live performances.
