Ndirande-based Masautso Masito has emerged winner of the K100 million grand prize in the TNM Kuikunga ndi Mpamba promotion which ended on Friday.
He works as Human Resources Clerk at Blantyre District Education Division.
Of the amount, Masito will go home with K50 million while the remaining half will be shared equally among 12 members of a group he formed when participating in the competition.
Reacting to the news when contacted by TNM officials after the final draw, Masito said was excited.
“I cannot believe this. I did not even expect this because it has been a while since the promotion started. I am excited,” Masito said.
Addressing journalists prior to conducting the draw, TNM Chief Finance Officer Peter Kadzitche said the promotion helped TNM reshape the mobile money ecosystem and contributed positively towards financial inclusion drive.
“We are pleased with the outcomes of the promotion as it has helped further deepen financial inclusion and improve the socio-economic status of our customers countrywide,” he said.
During the running period, Kuikunga ndi Mpamba made more than 10 millionaires and rewarded thousands with cash prizes.
To increase customers’ chances of winning and the frequency, TNM introduced the K1 million weekly prize and reduced the lucky draws from a fortnight to weekly.
The promotion enhanced the value of working collaborations, as participation required customers to add a minimum of 10 members in their group.
The K1 million lucky winners were drawn from Phalombe, Chitipa, Lilongwe and Machinga, while the rest of the 28 districts had winners of other cash prizes.
