Civo Service Football Club has swallowed its pride and finally fired defender, Emmanuel Zoya, who rejoined the club in 2018 from Nyasa Big Bullets.

Civo General Secretary, Ronald Chiwaula has confirmed the sacking of Zoya, midfielder Hudson Milanzi, defender Idrissa Walesi, attackers Ernest Kautsire, Chisomo Mpozanani, Christopher Phiri, Hastings Banda and Walusungu Mpata.

The development comes weeks after Civo hierarchy refuted reports that these players would be axed.

Chiwaula said the move was part of Civo’s rebuilding exercise.

“We wish to thank Zoya and others for their time with the club. We shall always cherish their contribution to the club. In the meantime we are focusing on making Civo great again,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zoya, who also captained the club, said he respects the club’s decision and will concentrate on his new role as a trainer at Mpira Mmudzi Mwathu, a youth developmental institution in Lilongwe.
