Classy Chisomo Kajamu
Chisomo Kajamu outshone 12 contestants to be crowned Ulaya Classic Body Building champion for a second year running at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe Sunday night.
From the start, Kajamu was the fans’ favourite and, after seven compulsory poses for the contestants in the tightly contested affair, he was declared the winner.
Kajamu received a prize of a Toyota Vitz and a miniature trophy whereas Muhuwa pocketed K500, 000 for finishing as the runner-up. Kajamu was excited.
“At first, I was nervous and I did not expect to retain the title. But my family gave me all the support and encouraged me. I am really happy that I have done it again,” said Kajamu whereas Muhuwa accepted defeat.
For a second time in a row, Emmanuel Muhuwa finished as the runner-up followed by Wellington Mwangonde and Jacob Mwangonde on positions three and four, respectively.
Thoko Kakhongwe came fifth whereas Thoko Chagwirampeni finished on position six, but celebrated body-builder Yasin ‘Ichocho’ Suwedi was eliminated in the early stages of the competition.
Chairperson of the organising committee, Charles Ulaya, hailed the contestants for taking part in the event.
“I think the competition is growing every year and we received a good number of contestants. It is encouraging to us,” Ulaya said.
