Jomo Cosmos-bound striker Muhammad Sulumba and Micium Mhone have joined Flames camp in preparation for a friendly match against Uganda slated for July 6 at Kamuzu Stadium.
The two were omitted in the 25-member squad because they were undergoing trials in South Africa.
In an interview on Wednesday, Flames interim coach Ernest Mtawali, confirmed that the duo has been included alongside current TNM Super League top goal scorer Innocent Bokosi.
Mtawali said the three players have been called as replacements for injured Tizgobere Kumwenda, Ernest Tambe and Zico Nkanda.
“All the players that were called into camp have arrived except the three who are injured. We are expecting Simplex Nthala to join us on Thursday,” said Mtawali in a telephone interview.
He said the preparations have been going on smoothly ahead of the showdown.
Flames are using the friendly match against Uganda as part of their preparations for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Swaziland in September.
Malawi lost 1-2 to Zimbabwe in the opening match of the Afcon qualifiers last.
The game against Uganda will be the first for Mtawali and his deputy Gerald Phiri Senior.
Mtawali was appointed as Flames interim coach after Young Chimodzi and Jack Chamangwana were fired due to the team’s poor performance.
