Malawi women’s national football team Coach Abel Mkandawire and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Director, John Kaputa, are brainstorming on how best to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics second round qualifying matches against Kenya.
Both parties said they would release a detailed preparatory plan for the She-Flames next month before hosting Kenya on August 26, with the return game set for September 1 in Nairobi.
“We are still talking to our seniors at Fam to come up with a better plan. The goal is to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We are looking at how we should keep the girls active. We have about 12 weeks to prepare for Kenya,” he said.
Kaputa said the She-Flames deserved more support from stakeholders after booting out Mozambique 14-1 on aggregate over two legs.
“We are within our schedule in terms of planning. We need to make the most of the time we have. The team showed flashes of brilliance and now, as an association, we must make sure that the team is well supported,” he said.Advertisement
