United States of America (USA-based musician Code Sangala has made a huge step in his career by getting his song on Putumayo World Music playlist.
Putumayo World Music is a New Orleans-based record label that specialises in compilations of world music, jazz and blues.
Code, better known as CO, said Monday he was super excited to have the dance remix of ‘Tikamapanga Chikondi’ on the new Putumayo World Music playlist.
“I am totally over the moon. I call upon people to have a listen. Putumayo is a giant when it comes to the compilation of world music,” the former Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative said.
He said his track found itself on Putumayo radar after he sent a sample to the label for their consideration and that they liked it.
“This means that people from all over the world can be able to have access to my music. As an artist, this is part of my global outreach. Malawi music is unique and the world needs to hear it, this is a great milestone for my music journey,” Code said.
The former host of Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session at Jacaranda Cultural Centre in Blantyre said his mission was to push the authentic Malawi music agenda to the world.
“‘Tikamapanga Chikondi’ is a dance remix which was released on my label Naxos World. The compilation is available in digital platforms, Spotify and Apple Music. I hope to do more,” he said.
Code has a number of albums to his credit and they include Mizu, a sophomore album he released in October 2019 on Naxos World.
