Musician and former Malawi’s Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative, Code Sangala, has finally released a new album titled Mizu on a United Kingdom record label known as Naxos World.
Naxos World is an international label that offers traditional or folk music.
Code confirmed the development yesterday saying he was excited to have the 13-track album on the market.
“I am happy to have signed to Naxos World. This gives me a chance to present my music to the world,” he said.
The album has songs such as ‘Chisoso’, ‘Mukunama’, ‘Asewera Ndine’, ‘Mowe’, ‘Eya’, ‘Ndilore’, ‘Ndiwe Wekha’, ‘Chosamva’, ‘Bwelera Kusukulu’, and ‘Tithana’.
In the album, Code worked on the acoustic guitar and vocals while Manyozo Tchado offered his skills on the electric guitar with Andy Mponya playing the piano, marimba and strings.
“There is a bonus track in the album titled ‘Chandiluma N’chiyani’ featuring Kasambwe Brothers Band. The album is all about love roots and culture as well as Malawi pride,” Code said.
He said it has been two years in the making for the album and that it was recorded in Ndirande at Active A Studio with post-production done at Ituma Studios by Gresham Mokwena.
“There are guest artists such as Arne Dreske and Mariya Kashyna, who are based in Germany,” Code said.
This is Code’s second album since he went solo after starring with Kapirintiya for some time.
“This album I am running as Code Sangala and not CO,” he said.
His first album, was titled Solo the Project.
The artist, who is currently also spearheading Music against Malaria with fellow musician Annemarie Quinn, who is from the United Kingdom, is also the host of the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic session which takes place every Thursday at Jacaranda Cultural Centre in Blantyre.
Apart from Naxos Music Library World, Code, said people can also access the album on other online platforms such as Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music.
