Copa Coca-Cola Schools Football Tournament division finals will take place on the weekend of July 21 and 22, Malawi Schools Sports Association General Secretary, Blackson Malamula, has confirmed.
The division event follows the completion of district finals. This year, individual teams are fighting for honours, a departure from the previous format that involved each education division’s teams.
“We have identified 34 education district teams for the divisional finals. The national finals are scheduled for Mulanje Park Stadium on August 4 to 6,” he said.
All national finalists will receive boots, tracksuits and uniforms. Additionally, national champions will pocket K2 million.
In Blantyre, teams such as Joyce Banda and Saint Andrews International High School are likely to compete in the division finals. Livimbo CDSS from Lilongwe have also made it to the division phase.
Coca-Cola International sponsors the competition—which has over the years unearthed talent such as Kinnah Phiri, Grant Lungu, Simplex Nthala and Atusaye Nyondo—to the tune of K50 million.
