Times Group through Times Television is rolling out a new programme ‘Times Comedy’ that is set to propel the comic discipline.
The programme, to be airing on Sunday, will see comedians, both established and up-and-coming, being given the platform to showcase their works.
Times Group Commercial Manager Alfred Kanjere said they were happy to bring ‘Times Comedy’, saying the programme is there to offer entertainment to people and help in removing stress.
“There is a lot that we are going through at the moment and comedy can help remove stress. Again we just want to offer more entertainment to the people,” Kanjere said.
He said the programme was also there to unearth talent.
“We have lots of stand-up comedians in our communities but they lack platforms. This stage is for them and we are opening up to them. We will also need the audience to be part of this programme,” Kanjere said.
Some of the comedians that have already got their way into the programme’s first edition include Tame Mwawa and Mada Kamwendo starring as Chiphwanya and Chikang’asasoka.
Mwawa and Kamwendo hailed Times Television for the platform and appealed to the corporate world to support the programme.
“We, as artists, need more platforms and, so, we commend Times Television for this move. We hope they will continue bringing more programmes serving the creative industry. Let me take this opportunity to call upon the corporate world to support and even advertise their services through this platform,” Mwawa said.
The other comedian set to appear in the first edition is Mr Rodriquez.
