Complex Tigresses in soul searching
Deposed GOtv Netball Champions League holders, Complex Tigresses, have promised to bounce back strongly following their recent not-so-impressive performance.
Tigresses surrendered the GOtv title after they lost to rivals and eventual winners, Kukoma Diamonds in the semifinal 34-33 at Don Bosco in Lilongwe last week. The former champions finished on third position when they sweated to overcome Thunder Queens 40-33.
Last season Tigresses only lost once in all competitions after playing 67 games. They also drew once.
This season Tigresses have played about 40 games but they have already lost four times including back-to-back defeats against Blue Eagles Sisters in GOtv. They also lost twice to Diamonds in both GOtv and Rainbow Paints League.
Tigresses’ assistant coach, Charles Mhango, said it was not a cause for concern.
“Sometimes you need a bit of luck to win. I remember during the Airtel Money national finals we capitalised on a fault to win the match. This time an umpire blew the final whistle when we were about to score an equalising basket,” he said.
Nevertheless, Mhango said Tigresses would address their shortfalls to bounce back strongly.
“There is still room for improvement and we will work hard to address such mistakes. We are a big team and we will always challenge for titles. Losing is part of the game. We have realised that our opponents have been busy plotting our downfall,” he said.
