Training and consultancy firm, Sycamore Consult Limited, has emphasised the need for managers in corporate institutions to know the necessary leadership styles to easily attain set goals and enhance institutional growth.

This came out during a leadership seminar the firm hosted in the United Arab Emirates last week.

The training attracted participants from Malawi and Namibia and trainers from that country from a firm called VP consultants.

In a Zoom interview, Sycamore founder and managing director Audrey Mwala said the training focused on modern leadership in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (Vuca) world.

“We want to shape leaders on how they can remain strong and deliver in a Vuca world; at the same time impart in them knowledge on how they can develop their team to be better in the modern world. So, together with our partners VP consultants from the UAE, we have trained the managers to understand how to maneuver in the complexities of modern economies,” Mwala said.

One of the participants from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Jean Mtethiwa said the training was eye opening and crucial considering the changing world.

“The training was very helpful because it has changed our perspective on how to understand situations in our workplace in relation to developments in the world. Already, the fact that the training is happening in the UAE helps us appreciate what our friends in other parts of the world are dealing with,” Mtethiwa said.
