Presidential Netball Cup holders, Kukoma Diamonds, have been challenged by their sponsors, Capital Oil Refining Industries (Cori), to win two more trophies to further strengthen their partnership.

Diamonds will be defending the Presidential Cup this weekend and are currently topping the Rainbow Paints Netball League log table with 45 points from 15 games.

Cori Human Resources Manager, Robert Mwanja, said they have advised the team to win the Presidential Cup and the regional league to cement their memorable relationship.

“It is pleasing to us as sponsors that our team has won us the Airtel Money Trophy as well as the GOtv Champions League. We are also the Presidential Cup holders and we will be proudly defending it. We must, therefore, win two more trophies to put the icing on the cake,” he said.

Mwanja said Cori was set to reward the team generously if the side manages to lift the two cups.

“It is our tradition to give them a pat on the back after they do well. We promise to continue with the tradition. We are ready to surprise them,” he said.

Diamonds Team Manager, Sella Mwafulirwa-Ligowe, admitted that the task was huge but promised to work hard to win both competitions.

“We are now the team to beat because of our recent exploits. Every team is doing its best to beat us. However, all our players are set to fight tooth and nail to ensure that our reputation is not battered,” she said.

Despite missing the services of their influential captain, Carol Mtukule-Ngwira, Kukoma have been enjoying a rich vein of form that has catapulted them to the top of the Rainbow Paints League, with Tigresses lying second with 39 points from the same number of games.

Thunder Queens are third with 36 points from 14 games while Chitakale are anchoring the 10-member log table with three points from 13 games.
