Cori inspires Kukoma Diamonds
Capital Oil Refining Industries (Cori) has promised to spoil Kukoma Diamonds if the team maintains its winning form.
Kukoma Diamonds have won the GOtv Netball Champions League, Presidential Trophy and Airtel Money National Netball trophy.
Cori top management paid the team a courtesy call at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday when the team defeated Chilomoni Sisters 83-24 to maintain its lead in the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League.
The team got its upkeep allowances on Saturday.
“We want the team to continue doing well in the league. We are happy with the team’s exploits so far. Winning three major trophies is not a joke. However, as Kukoma Cooking Oil, we are a leading brand, so we want the team to continue performing well in line with our brand,” said Cori’s Human Resource Manager Robert Mwanja.
He added that the players, officials and Cori management have been meeting to brainstorm on the winning formula.
“So we have offered them a special gift. We know we can spend lavishly to inspire them. At the moment, we want the team to continue winning,” Mwanja said.
Kukoma Diamonds Senior Player, Sarudzai Gondwe, speaking on behalf of fellow players, said they were excited with the visit.
“We know we have the potential to win all the trophies in the country. It is rare to see representatives of sponsors at the games, so it was a blessing on our part. We will continue working hard,” she said.
In other matches, Alliance Capital Stars beat Shizaella Queens 50-26 whereas Thunder Queens defeated Young Professionals 114-22.
