Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) Board Chairperson, Charles Sinetre, has said the institution is failing to implement projects due to lack of resources.

Sinetre made the remarks in Lilongwe on Thursday during the official launch of Integrated Arts Development.

“The funding we receive is not enough for the projects that we have planned. We need almost K5 billion to implement them but, instead, we get the money in phases which slows down our progress,” he said.

In her speech, minister responsible, Cecilia Chazama, reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting artists in the country.

She further acknowledged that artists face financial challenges.

“It is for this cause that Waluso-Sacco has been introduced so that artists are able to access loans which will help them to have easy access to funds when the need arises,” Chazama said.
