Council projects impress minister

Minister of Sports Ulemu Msungama has tipped Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) to keep on concentrating on infrastructure development.
Msunguma during his familiarisation tour visited the new Hockey Stadium and renovation works at Blantyre Youth Centre and BAT Ground last week.
“If we are to do great as a nation in sports we should also concentrate on infrastructure development. We need to maintain sports facilities to be in usable and good state. So it is encouraging to note that Sports Council is renovating Blantyre Youth Centre and BAT Ground. The Hockey Stadium is also a good project because our players and teams will be used to the required standard,” he said.
The minister said he had made some recommendations to Sports Council to help in sports development.
Sports Council acting executive secretary, Henry Mereka, said the minister had given them drive to work on infrastructure.
“We are delighted with his comments to us. It’s an encouragement. He has committed to supporting Council and we shall endeavour to develop more infrastructure,” he said.
