Council to launch National Awards
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) is expected to launch the country’s first-ever National Sports Awards in Blantyre this evening.
During the function, which is set for Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, MNCS will also unveil the theme song, logo for the awards and shortlisted nominees.
The event is a warm-up for the awards pencilled for March 9 at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
MNCS Administration Manager, Henry Mereka, said they want to honour teams and individuals that have contributed to sports development in the country.
“This is an historical event because we are starting a new era where individuals will be recognised for their achievements in various sport codes.
“We were the only country within Region Five [in Southern Africa] that was not holding National Sports Awards. We will be holding these awards annually,” he said.
