Court keeps Norman Chisale out

The High Court sitting in Blantyre Monday dismissed the State’s application to have attempted murder suspect Norman Chisale’s bail revoked.
Chisale, who is former president Peter Mutharika’s security aide, is being accused of attempting to kill Blantyre-based Sigere Amani.
As trial progressed, the State applied for revocation of Chisale’s bail, claiming that he was interfering with its witness but Justice Sylvester Kalembera thinks otherwise.
State Lawyer Pirirani Masanjala said he was okay with the ruling.
“That is the decision of the court. The court says we do not have sufficient evidence and that’s it. We do not have a problem with that. After all, it was just an application,” he said.
Chisale’s lawyer Chancy Gondwe hailed the ruling.
Meanwhile, the court has set April 16 as the date it will deliver its ruling on whether Chisale has a case to answer.
