Cricket legends Jonty Rhodes and Andre Botha arrived in the country on Monday to grace a family cricket day which Malawi Cricket Union has organised with Cricket School of Excellence.
MCU Services and Logistics Officer, Patricia Kapesa, said the event would take place at St Andrews International High School in Blantyre on Friday.
“We are calling on people to take part in this event as Team Jonty Rhodes will play Team Botha. Everyone is welcome and we will have food stalls by the Blantyre Farmer’s Market and cricket games for the whole family,” Kapesa said.
She said adults would pay K3,000 each and children K1,000 to attend the function.
Rhodes is rated as the greatest fielder of all time. He is a former Test and One Day International cricketer who played for South Africa between 1992 and 2003.
Botha is a former Irish cricketer. He played 55 times for Ireland, including the 2005 ICC Trophy and the European Championship in 2004 and 2006. Botha retired in May 2011.
