The cricket fraternity is reeling in pain and grief following the gruesome Cricket Malawi Head of Cricket Operations Arjun Menon.
Sketchy reports indicate that Menon’s head was chopped off at his residence in Namiwawa, Blantyre on Saturday night.
Blantyre Police Officers asked for time to establish facts and motive behind the murder.
However, CM President Vivek Ganesan confirmed the death saying he was still shocked and waiting for the Police report.
Meanwhile, the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has issued a statement, indicating that it is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic and untimely death of Menon, the coach of the Malawi national cricket team, who was brutally murdered last night [Saturday night] at his residence.
“Arjun was a dedicated coach and a passionate advocate for the development of cricket in Malawi. His contributions to the sport were immense and far-reaching, playing a pivotal role in the growth and success of the Malawi cricket team on regional and international platforms.
“His commitment, professionalism, and vision were truly inspirational, and his loss is a devastating blow to the entire sporting fraternity in Malawi and beyond,” a statement which has been signed by MNCS Chief Executive Officer Henry Kamata reads.
The statement said that as sports council, they strongly condemn the heartless act of violence and urge law enforcement authorities to pursue all leads to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
