Cycling body elects committee

Newly elected Cycling Federation of Malawi (CFM) President Malumbo Kayira has promised to improve the welfare of athletes.
“We need to attract sponsors and hold competitions regularly. We also need to give winners reasonable prizes than the current set up,” said Kayira who is also the President of Mzuzu Cycling Club.
Kayira dethroned Andrew Mkwezalamba by 11 to five votes during the body’s election at Malawi National Council of Sports offices in Blantyre on Sunday.
Mike Chawinga was elected Vice President with Eric Kandoje being elected General Secretary.
Modester Namakwera has been elected Vice General Secretary while Elton Chipeta was elected Treasurer.
Victor Malabwanya and Mkwezalamba were elected committee members.
Southern Region Sports Development Officer Felix Yola described the elections free and fair.
