Dalitso Sailesi doubtful

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) is unsure of the availability of Zambia-based attacking midfielder Dalitso Sailesi for Saturday’s friendly match against Tanzania.

Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, Tuesday said Sailesi’s club, Lusaka Dynamos, were facing challenges in releasing the player due to unspecified reasons.

Gunda said he has since written Football Association of Zambia General Secretary, Ponga Liwewe, to get a clear picture of why Dynamos are failing to release the player to the Flames.

“We suspect foul-play. They [Dynamos] are telling us that the player is facing work-permit challenges, yet the work-permit was issued. We understand that they have a crucial match this weekend and they want Sailesi to play for them,” Gunda said.

Sailesi was supposed to join camp yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Flames Team Manager, James Sangala, has confirmed that South Africa-based Gabadinho Mhango and Gerard Phiri Jnr joined the squad on Monday alongside Mozambique-based John Banda.

South Africa-based Robert Ng’ambi, Richard Mbulu, Frank Banda and Charles Swini from Mozambique were supposed to join camp yesterday.

“The coach is expected to announce the final travelling squad on Wednesday [today],” he said.

The Flames will be without injured Captain, Limbikani Mzava, when facing Tanzania in Dar-es-Salaam.
