Dalitso Sailesi makes Dynamos debut
Malawi National Football Team attacking midfielder Dalitso Sailesi finally tasted Zambia Super League action on Sunday.
The former Nyasa Big Bullets player was introduced from the bench at half-time when his new team, Lusaka Dynamos, came from behind to beat Konkola Blades 2-1 at Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka.
Sailesi Tuesday said Dynamos Coach, Patrick Phiri, featured him in the playing squad upon arrival from national duty in Morocco on Friday.
The former Blantyre United winger was introduced when Dynamos were trailing 1-0 after Captain, Cretass Chama, was shown a red card.
The red card forced Phiri to change the game-plan, hence Sailesi’s introduction. Sailesi said he was happy to play on Saturday.
“In the first place, I was worried that the coach was introducing me when the team was a goal down and that he would expect a lot from me. However, we ended up winning the game,” he said.
“I replaced Emmanuel Zelele. It was a tough match and I did all I could to help our strikers Chris Mugalu and Brian Chewe to score. I will keep on fighting to break into the first XI. I know it would not be easy as the team has the cream of players from several countries.”
The victory took Sailesi’s side to position four on the log table with 45 points from 26 matches, two points behind leaders, Power Dynamos.
