Suspended Silver Strikers Coach Dan Kabwe has said he will comment about his suspension when the club releases results of its investigations.

After a sluggish start to the season, Silver suspended Kabwe pending investigations on the team’s poor performance and appointed Macdonald Yobe as acting coach.

Kabwe was reluctant to comment on his suspension.

“Last year, after we lost to Bullets, my contract was terminated; now it is suspension. I will only give a statement when they are done with their investigations,” the Zambian mentor said yesterday.

The development comes after Silver lost to Nyasa Big Bullets 3-1 in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, a week after the Reserve Bank-sponsored side drew 2-2 with struggling debutants Sable Farming.

A statement from Silver on Monday night indicated that the club has opened investigations into reasons behind the team’s poor showing this season.

“The club has, meanwhile, appointed a taskforce to investigate all issues surrounding the performance of the team. The club urges

Club family to support the team, players and technical panel as the club addresses all issues affecting the team’s performance,” reads the letter from Company Secretary Peter Masiye. Silver Strikers Football

Silver have assembled a good squad comprising veterans namely Blessings Tembo, Chawanangwa Kaonga, Taonga Chimodzi, Mike Robert and Frank Banda.

In just 11 matches into the season, the writing seems to be on the wall for the Zambian coach, who came with pomp and fanfare as a serial winner after a good season in his debut season.

Kabwe was given targets of winning the TNM Super League and at least one cup this season. But the Central Bankers are fifth on the log table with 16 points from 11 matches and trail leaders Bullets by 16 points from 12 matches.

After 11 matches, Silver have won four matches, drawn four and lost three matches.

The former Zanaco coach signed a one-year performance-based contract with Silver before the start of the season.

Last season, Kabwe was fired after the team lost 2-1 to Bullets in the league before he was reinstated 24 hours later after the team lost 2-1 to Bullets in the league.

This season, the Zambian has also been busy with Caf A Coaching Course and has missed some matches as he has been travelling to Tanzania.

During Pamtsetse Football Bonanza under the tutelage of Yobe, Silver beat Blantyre giants Mighty Wanderers and Bullets by 1-0 margins to win it.

In Kabwe’s absence, Yobe also guided Silver to a 3-0 win over Kamuzu Barracks at Silver.

However, Yobe, Tuesday, declined to comment.

“At the moment, I don’t have anything to say,” he said.

In his debut season, Kabwe helped Silver win the inaugural FDH Bank Cup after beating Ekwendeni Hammers 2-0 at Bingu National Stadium. They also finished as runners-up in the TNM Super League and the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Silver last won the league title in 2013.
