Musician Dan Lu proved that he can be counted among top artists in the country and that he is making strides in his musical career when he attracted a massive audience during his show held at Village House in Blantyre on Sunday.

Dubbed Sweet Banana Sunday, Dan Lu was the main headliner during a show that started in the afternoon and went all the way to the night with people not letting the Part of Life star leave the stage.

Dan Lu, who has said he will launch his Sweet Banana song which he collaborated with Nigerian artist Kcee later this year, performed for a long time with his Rockers Band and his performance was faultless on the night.

He showed during the show that he has come of age and wanting to help promote up-and-coming artists. He shared the stage with several youthful artists which included Saint, Pon G, his brother Hope, who is also working on a new album, Kelvin Sings, Sir Patricks, Blaze and Stich Fray.

“Thank God for everything, didn’t anticipate such an audience but thank all the fans for their support,” Dan Lu said.

He also hailed the other artists for the energy they put in their performances.

“I have opened Rockers Records which I want to work with up-and-coming artists, there is a lot we want to do. As Dan Lu, I have made a name but it’s also time to work with other artists so that they also grow their talent. For instance, when I was in Nigeria, I saw to it that artists work together and it was even great to see late Grace Chinga’s son Steve Spesho performing,” he said.

He maintained that the launch of Sweet Banana is still there only that Kcee is busy and at the moment he is only waiting from him.

“He is currently on a tour, actually he gave me the month of September which he has changed again to October but then we just have to wait for him but we will surely launch Sweet Banana song this year. I am happy with the response the song has received and I just want to call upon people to keep on voting for the song so that it should do well on channels like MTV base,” the musician said.

Dan Lu has taken up the initiative of working with several international artists and apart from Kcee, the musician also worked with another Nigerian star Flavour in the song 1+1 which he is also set to launch.

Saint hailed Dan Lu for giving him a platform as well as other artists.

“It was a good show, people came in large numbers and the huge turnout motivated us. For me, I am growing in my music, there is a new version of my song Akazi Anga and I am also working on more songs which will come out and again there is an album I will drop titled Bulu so people should watch the space,” the youthful artist said.

Blaze also hailed Dan Lu for the platform, saying as artists, there was need to work together.

“As up-and-coming artists, we look up to established artists like Dan Lu and so it was great to share the stage with him and we are surely pushing,” he said.

Urban artists are showing their prowess in their performances although their biggest problem is the lack of seriousness which has seen some of them throwing caution to the wind and performing while drunk the audience during the show was dominated by the youth, who are fond of urban music.
