It is a case of daughter following in father’s footsteps for veteran Balaka-based musician Isaac Liwotcha as her daughter Immaculate has dropped a single titled ‘Lord Is My Strength’.
The former Alleluya Band member, who has five albums to his credit including Ambuye Mutimvere and Musandipute, said he was happy that he has a child, who has taken his path.
“She is fond of singing. She is a tailor having done tailoring and design but she also thought of doing music,” Liwotcha said Tuesday.
He said her daughter started singing when she was young but he never thought she would take a step to release her own songs.
“She has been observing how I produce my music and at times, she has been singing some of my songs and so I hope she goes on to produce her own album,” Liwotcha said.
He recalls that when she was 10 years old, she performed together with her brother at a Music Crossroads concert at Zembani Lodge in Balaka.
“I see her going all the way. She just needs to be focused otherwise she has a good voice. My nephew Mike Chipanda is the one who recorded the song,” the veteran musician said.
Liwotcha, four months ago, also released a new single titled ‘Kabwezeni’.
“The biggest challenge in the creative industry at the moment is lack of support but there is potential,” he said.
