Daughters of Africa winner in makeover

Blantyre-based singer Hannah Kadam’manja made history for the country in 2010 when she triumphed in Daughters of Africa contest in Kenya.
She then proceeded to represent Malawi in the Netherlands alongside winners from other countries, held close to 85 shows in Europe.
Upon her comeback, she went on to work on her debut album Anandimenyera Nkhondo with Gresham Mokwena, which did not leave any mark.
And so in an effort to put her career back on track, Hannah, who is a choir mistress at Michiru CCAP Youth Choir, is on the verge of putting on the market a fresh album packaged with old songs from her previous project and new songs.
The singer has indicated that the album is almost ready and that she is set to launch it on May 22 at Golden Peacock in Blantyre before invading Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on May 29 with other shows at Comesa Hall in Blantyre and Robin’s Park in Zomba.
Meanwhile, Hannah has said she would be premiering one of the songs from the album, titled ‘Mikwingwirima’, next week Monday.
“I will also be premiering a music video for the track ‘Analira’ which is special for Easter. It has been quite a journey but I am happy to come back and use this God-given talent to minister His word,” she said.
Hannah admitted that she rushed into recording her debut album after her exploits in Daughters of Africa.
“I have realised this is my talent to preach through music and I want to do music. I am so thankful to the family that came out to sponsor and support everything in my project,” the singer said.
She said it was important for her to rework some of the old songs and breathe in life and then bring in five new songs.
“The previous album was not launched and this is why I felt compelled to use the songs and also maintain the title in this album,” Hannah said.
She said she was at the moment finalising recording to the 10-track album recorded at Melodics Studio in Blantyre by AB Malinga.
Some of the songs that make the album include ‘Have Mercy on Me’, ‘How Great Thou Art’, ‘My Desire’, ‘Chimwemwe’ and ‘Sanandisiye’.
