Edgar ndi Davis Band which is spearheaded by lawyers Edgar Kachere and Davis Njobvu has revealed that they will be going into the studio to record their new album.

Njobvu has also revealed that he will release a gospel album under his solo project.

The good news is coming ahead of Edgar ndi Davis Band concert at Mibawa Café in Blantyre tomorrow night.

“We are happy to perform in Blantyre once again having performed at Blue Elephant in the same city three weeks ago where we were helping raise money for netball supporters. But ahead of the concert on Saturday (tomorrow) we would like to inform the nation that we are going into the studio to record our new album,” said Njobvu.

He said they will be recording with Gresham Mokwena at Ituma Studio who also had a hand in working on their second album Musamabwere Kumudzi.

“You may recall that we released our fourth album Energy Saver in 2012 so now is the time to record a new album,” said Njobvu.

The singer and guitarist said he is running a solo project to release some gospel songs and that he is working with the same producer.

“I have already recorded four songs which I will be sending to radio stations shortly. It is an honour for me to work on this project,” said Njobvu.

He said that one thing that people will notice in the songs in his gospel package is that it is different from the Edgar ndi Davis Band music.

“This is deliberate because I am trying to expose a different side of me which many people do not know. I am a worshipper and my gospel album is a product of meditation and reflection on scripture. Apart from my solo album I will also be helping Soche Baptist Praise Team to come up with an album. Actually I am working with talented singers like Allan Jogi,” said Njobvu.

The show at Mibawa Café will see Edgar ndi Davis as usual sharing the stage with veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda.

Nd’efeyo Entertainment Director Khumbo Munthali said they will continue to bring a variety of shows to Mibawa Café and that Edgar ndi Davis was one of them.
