Dennis Kambalame burial today

Former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers chairperson Dennis Kambalame will be laid to rest at Catholic Institute Cemetery in Blantyre this afternoon.
Remains of Kambalame were collected from Mthunzi Funeral Services to Kambalame’s Nyambadwe residence in Blantyre, with a holy mass and vigil taking place later in the evening.
Kambalame passed on in the early hours of Wednesday and is best remembered for guiding Wanderers to glory in the inaugural Carlsberg Cup when he was chairperson in the 1999-2000 season.
Former Wanderers general secretary Henry Chibowa said Kambalame will be remembered for fighting gate fraud during matches.
“Kambalame was our best chairman at Wanderers from what I know. He was determined in the fight against gate fraud. He hated the stealing of gate revenue. We will greatly miss him,” Chibowa said.
Kambalame, who died aged 74, also served as Wanderers general secretary in the 1983-84 season.
