Diamond confirms Malawi show


Tanzanian musician Diamond, also known as Diamond Platinumz, has finally confirmed through the social media that he will perform in Malawi and Zimbabwe end this month.

His announcement comes barely a week after it was revealed that the Tanzania artist would headline this year’s Sand Music Festival.

“Here is my Zimbabwe and Malawi performances schedule!!!. Harare, Zimbabwe 28.10.2016. Lilongwe, Malawi (Sand Music Festival) – 29.10.2016,” Diamond said through his Twitter account.


The artist further said he can’t wait to meet the fans.

Lucius popularly known as Soldier, who is Director of Sand Music Festival also posted a photograph of Diamond on his Facebook page and confirmed that Diamond is coming.

Several people commented on his post, welcoming the development and hailed Lucius for bringing Diamond.


Last week, Lucius said Sand Music Festival was still working on the deals with the artists set to perform at the festival and that they would be releasing the full line-up this week.

Recently, the Sand Music Festival organisers announced that Jamaican artist Sizzla was to headline the festival.

However it was learnt that Sizzla will not come and Diamond will perform instead.

The Sand Music Festival will be held at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima from October 28 to October 30.

Lucius said this is a festival run by Malawians and for Malawians adding that now in its sixth year, they were growing and making progress.

“Last year we brought Jamaican artist Busy Signal, who was fantastic and raised the bar and so we want to keep on going up and now down,” he said.

Busy Signal also performed in the country recently for the second time. The show which took place at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe according to Lucius, was part of fundraising for the Sand Music Festival.

It is not yet clear which other international acts will join Diamond at this year’s festival.

Diamond real name Naseeb Abdul Juma was born on October 2, 1989.

He is a Bongo Flava recording artist and singer best known for the hit Number One.

The artist has won numerous awards at Channel O and the HiPipo Music Awards.

He is considered influential among his fans, and is said to be the most loved and decorated Tanzanian artist at the moment.

According to available information, Diamond was believed to be the highest selling Tanzanian artist of ringtones by mobile phone companies in 2013, as well as being among the artists earning the highest income in the African Great Lakes region’s music industry.

In 2014, Diamond set a new record at the Tanzania Music Awards by winning seven awards, including Best Male Writer, Best Male Artist, Best Song Writer and Best Male Entertainer of the Year.
