Dikamawoko invited to Egypt
By Sam Banda Jnr:

A window of opportunity has come up for Dikamawoko Arts, which has been invited to perform in Egypt.
According to a letter we have seen, Dikamawoko Arts has been invited to perform at the 3rd edition of Awladna International Forum for Arts of the Gifted to take place from February 15 to 22 this year.
The event is held under the patronage of President Abdelfattah Al- Sisi— in cooperation with the ministries of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, Tourism, Culture, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs and the Ministry of Antiquities.
The organisers have invited 10 members to the forum to participate in the performances section.
The forum will provide full accommodation for the group throughout the forum’s period.
Dikamawoko Arts’ Tawonga Nkhonjera said Thursday they will appeal to well-wishers for other forms of support.
“We will need to have a few fundraisers. We will hold a few performances for interested stakeholders in cultural exchanges, travel, tourism, entrepreneurship and trade plus art. We look for partners in social inclusion of people with special needs and that is the aim of the festival,” Nkhonjera said.
He said Dikamawoko Arts has two members with albinism and one with dyslexia.
Nkhonjera said they also work with teenagers with special needs from Arman’s Home, some with downs syndrome and others with autism.
“We practice art therapy by engaging the teens in assorted artistic activities such as photography, dance, videography, singing and deejaying,” he said.
Nkhonjera called for support from well-wishers for Dikamawoko Arts to represent the country in Egypt.
