Substitute Diverson Mlozi rescued a point for lacklustre Nyasa Big Bullets in a come-from-behind 1-1 draw against Azam Tigers in a TNM Super League contest at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

After this second meeting in four days between the two Blantyre teams, Bullets remain sixth in the league with 24 points from 14 games, whereas Tigers have finished the first round with 22 points and are on ninth place.

Tigers, who lost 0-1 to Bullets to exit the Carlsberg Cup on Thursday, should blame themselves for not getting maximum points as they pinned Bullets in their own territory for the better part of the first half, but lacked enough fire power upfront.

Precious Phiri headed in the opener for Tigers in the 21st minute, but failed to increase the lead. They suffered a blow following the injury of defensive pillar Martin Chongwe.

Bullets too lost left-back Yamikani Fodya, who had started the game on the left wing to accommodate Emmanuel Zoya in defence limped off and he was replaced by Mlozi.

Mlozi grabbed the late equaliser, slotting the ball in, from the crowded Tigers’ box to make the most of a deflected clearance.

In Dwangwa, Mafco moved to third place on 28 points following an emphatic 3-0 defeat of Silver Strikers. Silver still lead the table on 29 points from 15 games.

Leading scorer Richard Mbulu was among the scorers for Mafco who have also finished their first round assignments.
