Mighty Wanderers Supporters Committee Chairperson Mervin Nkunika and General Secretary Sam Mponda have said that they cannot be suspended by their fellow supporters since the team was now a limited company.
Nkunika said it was the board that was mandated to either suspend or fire them.
“The zonal chairmen have been meeting with one of the officials. Initially, the official wanted us [supporters] to fire four directors Chancy Gondwe, Limbani Magomero, Adelaide Migogo and Ernest Maganga. However, we said no because there was nothing wrong with the four. Our fellow supporters have made serious claims which they cannot back,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dines Chitsulo, who is the vice Chairperson for the Supporters, is expected to take over the leadership in acting capacity today.
“The zonal chairmen have spoken that they no longer need the two [Nkunika and Mponda]. We are waiting for an announcement to that effect,” he said.
Wanderers Board Secretary Humphreys Mvula said they were unaware of the developments taking place in the supporters’ committee.
“We have not been informed about changes that may have taken place in the supporters leadership; suffice to state that they run their affairs. We hope they will inform us as a board and it is at that time that one can comment competently,” Mvula said.
Recently, Wanderers delegates asked jailed-businessman Thom Mpinganjira to consider taking over the team.
