DJ Waxxy, Souljah eye Africa market
South Africa-based Nigerian veejay, DJ Waxxy, and Zimbabwe’s reggae artist Buffalo Souljah are back in the frame and have released singles eyeing Africa’s market.
The two artists, who are not new on Malawi’s entertainment scene, have plans to reach all the 54 countries of Africa.
Souljah’s single is titled ‘My Lady’ from his forthcoming album Versatility while DJ Waxxy has, straight from his world tour, released Yini. It features Pitch Black Afro, Bricks Mabrigado, Souljah and South African rapper Maraza.
With the hashtag #MyLadyWorldPremier, the song was premiered in 25 radio stations in Africa, Europe and the United States of America.
“Music is a universal language. I felt blessed when I heard the song being played on French and Portuguese radio stations,” Buff a lo Souljah said.
The two artists have united in time to realise their dream of making inroads in Africa.
Following in the footsteps of South Africa’s reggae musician Lucky Dube, Souljah wants to be the first urban artist in Africa to have his music premiered in 54 African countries.
DJ Waxxy has travelled extensively and has brushed shoulders with international artists such as Missy Elliot, Jnr Reed, Blu Cantrell Omarion, Montell Jordan and Marcus Houston.
The former Channel O veejay is well known for his flexibility in playing R&B, reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and house music on his set. He was the first DJ in Africa to mix and scratch videos.
The two are planning to perform in Malawi following their previous performances courtesy of Black Rhyno Entertainment.
