Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cancelled its much touted ‘mother of all rallies’ which was scheduled for Njamba Freedom Park in Blantyre Sunday.

DPP spokesperson, Nicholas Dausi, Sunday did not give the actual reason for the cancellation of the rally, which the party’s leader, President Peter Mutharika, during his swearing-in ceremony at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre last week, said he was looking forward to.

“We just decided to cancel it. We will communicate a fresh date in due course,” Dausi said.

The party had, before the cancellation, started clearing the ground at the venue of the rally.

In the heat of the May 21 campaign period, Mutharika also cancelled a few rallies, sparking questions on his health, especially on the social media.

However, Mutharika hit back at the critics who were speculating on his health.
