During the launch, which was spiced by performances by veteran musician Snowden Ibbu, Waliko and Jalawe Band, Lwanda donated musical equipment which included drum kit and electric guitar to Kukana Kuba Kasambwe Band.

Kasambwe Band, made up of Joseph Banda, Konzani Chikwata and Fatsani Kennedy, is one of the acts that Lwanda writes about in the book, detailing their music progress.

“Apart from launching the book, I thought I should donate the electric guitar, which I no longer use, and drum kit”, he said.

Lwanda at one point joined people to dance to songs by Kasambwe, which closed the curtain during the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session .

Banda said they have been struggling all these years with resources and that their equipment is old.

Apart from musical equipment, Lwanda donated CDs of the group’s songs he recorded through his Pamtondo Records.

Ibbu, who is in his 60s, also thanked Lwanda for supporting Kasambwe saying his gesture shows he is passionate about music in the country.
