Draws not by design— Francis Songo
Silver Strikers Team Manager, Francis Songo, has said their ‘too many’ draws are not by design, the latest being the 1-1 stalemate against Dwangwa United on Sunday.
Dwangwa went ahead on the half-hour mark through Jack Chiona’s spot-kick after Hassan Upindi was tripped in the danger zone, before Matthews Sibale bailed out the Bankers with a late equaliser.
“I think we should not be happy with the draw, but the way it came can be a solace to us. We have had too many draws but it is not by design,” Songo said at Chitowe Ground.
In the second-half, Silver packed their midfield and striking force after introducing Duncan Nyoni, Michael Tete and Binwell Katinji, a tactic that worked for them as they started pressurising Dwangwa.
Dwangwa United Team Manager, Dave Mwandira, said his players lost concentration towards the end of the game.
“We could have won this game if we had utilised the chances we created,” Mwandira said.
